Karnataka High Court:<\/span> On 6-6-2025, the single Judge Bench of S.R. Krishnakumar, J.<\/span>, while hearing the instant petition pertaining to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede that occurred on 4-6-2025, providing an interim relief, directed the authorities to not take any take any action against the officials of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) till the next date of hearing, provided that the KCA management cooperate with the investigation\/inquiry.<\/p>\n

The petitioner submitted that KSCA is the governing body of Cricket in the State of Karnataka and affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and governs the Karnataka cricket team. Furthermore, the KSCA operates the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, Indian Premier League (IPL) events are conducted by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) through their service provider and the role of KSCA is very limited as it accommodates only by extending the venue and infrastructure.<\/p>\n

On 5-6-2025, the Karnataka High Court taking suo motu cognizance of stampede<\/a> at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium during celebrations for Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL victory; issued notice to Karnataka Government to present a status report ascertaining the cause of the tragedy and noted that the State Government must develop SOP to prevent such incidents in future.<\/p>\n
