The team from National Law University, Jodhpur emerged as the winners of the prestigious XVIIIth NLS-Trilegal International Arbitration Moot (TIAM), held from 16th to 18th May 2025 at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru. The team comprising Chetna Santosh, Ruth Sarah Abraham, Mugdha Vaidya, and Avani Sirsikar showcased exceptional legal acumen and advocacy to clinch the title.<\/p>\n

The competition witnessed rigorous rounds of arbitration advocacy, attracting participation from premier law schools across the country. This year’s moot proposition revolved around the arbitrability of the dispute amidst sanctions, the effectof mandatory law on arbitration, anti-suit injunctions issued by arbitral tribunals under SIAC and assignment of the arbitration agreement. The proposition also dealt with the enforceability of payment obligations under demand guarantee amid cross border sanctions.<\/p>\n

ILS Law College, Pune was declared the runners-up of the competition, represented by Umar Shaikh, Tanvi Srivastava, Bhakti Handifod, and Ayush Purohit. ILS Law College also secured both the Best Memorial awards for the claimant and respondent sides.<\/p>\n

In a remarkable individual achievement, Ruth Sarah Abraham of NLU Jodhpur was adjudged the Best Speaker in both the Preliminary and Final Rounds, affirming her outstanding advocacy skills.<\/p>\n

The final round of the moot was judged by an eminent panel including Justice (Retd.) Hrishikesh Roy, Supreme Court of India, Justice Tejas Karia, Judge, Delhi High Court, Mr. Rahil Pereira, Partner, Trilegal, Prof. Luke Nottage, Sydney Law School, and Ms. Shwetha Bhiduri, South Asia Director, SIAC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
