With the upcoming Supreme Court Bar Council Election, 2025 looming, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) in its Notification dated 16-5-2025, announced that a Public Debate<\/span> for all the candidates for the posts of President and Secretary will be held on 19-5-2025<\/span> at 3:45 PM at the Supreme Court Lawns. This public debate will be conducted in pursuance of Resolution No. 1 dated 18-2-2003. The debate would be conducted by the members of the Election Committee and its proceedings will be uploaded on the SCBA website.<\/p>\n

In this upcoming Public Debate, the candidates for the posts of President and Secretary shall be addressing the Members of the Bar, focussing on Policies and Programmes<\/span> the candidates propose to adopt upon being elected.<\/p>\n

As per Supreme Court’s order dated 6-5-2025, election of the office bearers of the SCBA and the Executive Committee shall be held on 20-05-2025. The Court had further directed that in the ensuing election for 2025-2026, the post of Secretary of the SCBA shall be exclusively reserved<\/a> for a woman candidate. In addition, 1\/3rd seats in the Executive Committee i.e., 3 out of 9 shall be exclusively reserved for women candidates. Similarly, 1\/3rd seats out of the Senior Executive Members i.e., 2 out of 6 shall also be reserved for women candidates.<\/p>\n
