A.1<\/span> My name is Abhidha Gupta, and I have always harbored a deep interest in the field of law, largely inspired by my family’s longstanding association with the legal profession. Growing up around judicial officers in my family allowed me to witness firsthand the profound impact that Judges and lawyers can have on society. The decision to pursue a career in the Haryana Judicial Services naturally felt like the next step in my journey, as it combines my passion for law with a genuine desire to serve my community.<\/p>\n

Q. 2 Please describe your preparation strategy for the Haryana Judicial Services Examination?<\/p>\n

A. 2<\/span> My preparation strategy for the Haryana Judicial Services Examination revolved around balancing consistency with a step-by-step approach. Good mentorship played a crucial role, helping me clarify doubts and stay on the right track. I also worked with a study group, which not only motivated me to stay consistent but offered an environment for healthy discussions and exchange of ideas. Above all, developing fearlessness and a desire to learn from others kept me open to new perspectives, ensuring steady improvement and a well-rounded command of the law and language.<\/p>\n

Q. 3 What challenges did you face while preparing for the exam, and how did you overcome them?<\/p>\n

A. 3<\/span> During my preparation, I often grappled with the fear of uncertainty, burnout, and staying consistent, alongside the challenge of juggling both studies and personal well-being. At times, I also encountered individuals who undermined my confidence. However, I found strength in my family’s unwavering support and in surrounding myself with positive, like-minded people. By taking it one day at a time, allowing myself to feel fear without letting it overpower me, and taking necessary breaks when the pressure mounted, I was able to maintain focus and push through these hurdles.<\/p>\n

Q. 4 How did your education at the Army Institute of Law contribute to your success in this examination?<\/p>\n

A. 4<\/span> My education at the Army Institute of Law was instrumental in shaping my journey toward the Haryana Judicial Services Examination. The professors were incredibly motivating, breaking down legal concepts in a way that was easy for a novice like me to grasp. Seminars conducted by alumni in the judiciary and other public services offered real-world insights that broadened my understanding of legal practice. Equally important, the friendships I forged there provided a vital support system, as we encouraged one another through group study sessions and shared resources. Together, these experiences laid a strong foundation for me to confidently approach and succeed in the examination.<\/p>\n

Q.5 What role did your current LLM studies at Panjab University play in your exam preparation?<\/p>\n

A.5<\/span> I began my LLM at Panjab University after completing my Mains Examination, so it did not directly influence my core preparation strategy for the written component. However, the supportive environment and guidance from professors proved invaluable during my interview phase. They generously shared their experiences, offered insights into the interview process, and helped me manage my coursework so that my studies would not interfere with my final round of preparation. This balance of academic rigour and personalised support played a meaningful role in boosting my confidence for the interview.<\/p>\n

Q. 6 How did you manage your time effectively between your LLM coursework and exam preparation?<\/p>\n

A. 6<\/span> Managing my time between LLM coursework and exam preparation was relatively smooth because the interview took place during my first month at Panjab University. The professors were extremely supportive and understanding, allowing me to focus on the interview and complete my coursework afterward. Whenever the pressure felt overwhelming, they offered guidance, connected me with alumni who had undergone the same process, and provided practical advice that helped me strike the right balance between academics and exam preparation.<\/p>\n

Q. 7 What is your take on the current system of Judicial Service Examinations and do you think that these State examinations should be centralised like Civil Services Examinations?<\/p>\n

A. 7<\/span> I believe there are both advantages and disadvantages to the current State-based judicial service examinations. On one hand, the decentralised format allows each State to factor in its own legal nuances, local statutes, and language requirements, ensuring that the selected officers are well-versed with the regional judicial framework. On the other hand, a centralised system akin to the Civil Services Examinations could bring greater uniformity and standardisation across all States. However, any shift toward centralisation would need a thorough, data-driven study to gauge the impact on language barriers, State autonomy, and regional legal considerations. It is not just about creating a uniform platform; it is also about preserving the diversity and specificity of each State’s judicial landscape. Ultimately, a well-researched approach that takes into account the perspectives of stakeholders, from legal professionals to State authorities, would be essential before making any definitive changes.<\/p>\n

Q. 8 What advice would you give to aspiring candidates who wish to clear the judiciary exam on their first attempt?<\/p>\n

A. 8<\/span> My advice for first-time aspirants is to have unwavering belief in your own abilities and approach the journey fearlessly. Focus on genuinely understanding legal concepts rather than just aiming to clear the exam. Do not let the fear of the exam overshadow your efforts — treat it as motivation to refine your approach instead. Surround yourself with supportive, like-minded individuals who encourage your progress. And finally, remember to take breaks, rest and reflection are key to maintaining balance and consistency in your studies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
