On 16-4-2025, Justice Arun Palli was sworn in as the 38th<\/span> Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.<\/p>\n

After the retirement of Justice Tashi Rabstan<\/a>, the former Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, the President of India, on 12-4-2025, in exercise of powers conferred by Article 217(1)<\/a> of the Constitution<\/a> appointed Justice Palli as the next Chief Justice.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Palli’s appointment as Chief Justice on 4-4-2025.<\/p>\n

Justice Arun Palli was born on 18-9-1964 in a family of esteemed lawyers. His great-grandfather Late Lachchman Dass Palli and grandfather Late Lajpat Rai Palli, were esteemed lawyers of the District Bar, Patiala. His father Prem Kishan Palli, a Senior Advocate, served on the Bench of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, retiring in 1998.<\/p>\n

Justice Arun Palli graduated in Commerce and completed his Bachelor of Laws from Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 1988, and commenced his legal practice at the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.<\/p>\n

His Lordship gained expertise across diverse areas of law, including civil, criminal, constitutional, revenue, industrial, and labour law. He was appointed Additional Advocate General for Punjab on 1-9-2004, a position he held until March 2007.<\/p>\n

Justice Palli was designated as a Senior Advocate on 26-4-2007. He served as Amicus Curiae in various contentious matters before the High Court. He dealt with diverse subjects and matters having important legal propositions before Division and Full Benches. He also appeared before the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, and also argued several important matters in the High Court of Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

Elevated to the Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on 28-12-2013, Justice Arun Palli also served as Executive Chairman of Haryana State Legal Service Authority since 31-5-2023.1<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
