On 5-4-2025, Justice Yashwant Varma was sworn in Judge of Allahabad High Court. His transfer to this Court from Delhi High Court was recommended<\/a> by the Supreme Court Collegium on 24-3-2025. The decision was taken by the Collegium after meetings conducted on 20-3-2025 and 24-3-2025. The Chief Justice of India had constituted a 3-member Committee<\/a> to conduct an enquiry into the cash-in-house matter against Justice Yashwant Varma, Judge, Delhi High Court, as part of the in-house enquiry which the Court has initiated into the matter. An in-house enquiry was initiated by the Court after reports surfaced that a huge pile of unaccounted cash amounting to Rs. 15 crores were found from the residence of Justice Varma. The Committee constituted of Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab & Haryana High Court; Justice G.S. Sandhawalia, Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court; and Anu Sivaraman, Judge, Karnataka High Court.<\/p>\n

The Collegium’s recommendation was approved<\/a> by the President of India on 28-3-2025.<\/p>\n

Justice Yashwant Varma graduated in Law from Rewa University in 1992 and was enrolled as an Advocate on 08-8-1992. He practised mainly on the Civil side handling varied nature of matters relating to Constitutional, Industrial Disputes, Corporate, Taxation, Environment and allied branches of Law.<\/p>\n

Justice Varma was also the special counsel for the Allahabad High Court from 2006 till his elevation as a Judge. Furthermore, Justice Varma served as the Chief Standing Counsel for the State of UP from 2012 till August 2013 whereafter he was designated as Senior Advocate by the Court.<\/p>\n

Justice Yashwant Varma was later elevated as Additional Judge on 13-10-2014 and took oath as Permanent Judge on 01-2-2016. He was subsequently transferred to Delhi High Court on 11-10-2021.<\/p>\n

Justice Yashwant Varma is due to retire on 5-1-20311<\/sup><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
