The provisions came into force on 28-2-2025.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Applicability:<\/span> whole of NCT of Delhi<\/p>\n<h3>Key Points:<\/h3>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\">\n<li>\n<p>Every summon will be served by a Police Officer.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Exception:<\/span> if any Court deems fit, it can order that the summons will be served\/ additionally served by an officer of any investigation agency\/ Court administration of Delhi District Courts\/ official of the Revenue department\/ any other department of the Government of NCT of Delhi.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Register of details:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Officer In charge of every Police Station will maintain a register, in electronic form or physical, and write the details of every person against whom summons have been issued under <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink\/Cr7F1W4r\" target=\"_blank\">Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023<\/a>(&#8216;BNSS&#8217;).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>During any inquiry\/ investigation\/ trial, if it appears to a Police Officer\/Court that a person will be needed to be served with a summon, they can request that person to provide a declaration. This declaration, addressed to the Officer In-charge of the Police Station concerned, should include the particulars specified in Schedule-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-9001803792\" target=\"_blank\">I<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-9001804327\" target=\"_blank\">BNSS<\/a>. Additionally, the person will have to inform the Officer In-charge immediately if there are any changes to these particulars.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Electronic Summons Delivery Centre:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>An <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Electronic Summons Delivery Centre (&#8216;ESDC&#8217;)<\/span> will be established by Delhi Police in each Police Station for service of summons through electronic communication.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Every other agency in NCT of Delhi will also have to establish ESDC in its office.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Service of Summons through Electronic Communications:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>On the order by a Court, summons can be served through physical mode along with electronic communication through:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#10003; E-mail;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#10003; WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Such summons should bear the image of seal of the Court and digitally signed by the Presiding Officer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If required, summons should be accompanied by soft\/ scanned copies of the compliant\/ documents.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Summons served electronically should be transmitted to ESDC of the Police Station concerned.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-style: italic;\">Summons can be
