Kerala Court: Erattupetta Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court, Kottayam<\/span> granted bail to BJP leader PC George, in a hate speech case which was registered against him alleging that he made derogatory statements against the Muslim community.<\/p>\n

On 1-1-2025, a television debate aired on Janam TV, in which BJP leader, PC George equated Muslims in India with terrorist. Thereafter, a complaint was filed by the Muslim Youth League Municipal Committee, and a case was registered against PC George, alleging commission of offences punishable under Sections 196(1)(a)<\/a>, 299<\/a> of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023<\/a> and Section 120(o) of Kerala Police Act, 2011.<\/p>\n

On 21-02-2025, the Kerala High Court declined to grant anticipatory bail to PC George. Further, his initial attempt to secure bail from Erattupetta Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court failed and after that he was remanded to police custody for 14 days starting on 24-02-2025.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, he filed another bail application, before the same aforesaid court, which is allowed , and accordingly, he has been granted bail.<\/p>\n
