CHRIST (DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY)<\/h3>\n

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) established in 1969, is an autonomous law school and one of India’s premier law schools. The College is known worldwide for its academic excellence and for having a focused approach on managing contemporary legal issues in the fast-evolving global environment.<\/p>\n

School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) (SLCU), Bangalore, is a part of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, which was founded and is administered by Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). THE ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION BOARD<\/h3>\n

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Board aims to promote and provide learning opportunities to experience the various alternative means of dispute resolution within the legal system. The Board is committed to conducting several events to provide the student community with the necessary exposure to deal with aspects concerning Arbitration, Mediation, Negotiation, Conciliation etc. fostering a deep understanding of these mechanism.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE COMPETITION<\/h3>\n

The Mediation-Arbitration Competition, now in its 5th edition, focuses on developing the future members of the Indian legal fraternity and instilling efficient dispute resolution methods. The past three editions of National Med-Arb Competition have witnessed us successfully hosting national- level mediation and arbitration competitions. This year the competition has been renamed as CHRIST Med-Arb Competition.<\/p>\n

MED-ARB Details<\/h3>\n

The is 5th Edition of the CHRIST Med-Arb Competition the Fifth edition of the flagship event of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, School of Law. The aim is to create a platform for like- minded individuals interested in Alternative Dispute Resolution to indulge in an intellectual and thought-provoking competitive simulation of Mediation and Arbitration. The competitions will be held from the 13th<\/span> to 15th<\/span> February 2025. The brochure holds detailed information regarding the competition.<\/p>\n

The event is proud to collaborate with esteemed law firms, J. Sagar Associates (JSA) Nishith Desai Associates, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices (now L&L Partners Law Offices), IndusLaw, Poovayya & Co., ALMT Legal, Dentons Link Legal, CrestLaw Partners, Keystone Partners. Meditation partner, CAMP Arbitration and Mediation Practice, and mentoring partner, FCDR (Foundation for Comprehensive Dispute Resolution) and media partners, SCC Online and MediateGuru and knowledge partners, SCC Online and EBC.<\/p>\n

These law firms bring extensive expertise, contributing to the competition’s success and reflecting the commitment of the legal community to support the growth of future legal professionals.<\/p>\n

COMPETITION DETAILS<\/h3>\n

Composition of the Team:<\/p>\n

Each participating team shall consist of 3rd members, where two members shall act as a client and counsel pair and one member as Mediator\/Arbitrator. The role of the members shall not be changed (i.e., the participant in the role of Mediator\/Arbitrator shall continue to play the role throughout the competition). The Arbitration rounds shall constitute 2 Counsels from each team. No team shall be accompanied by a coach\/Instructor.<\/p>\n

Nature of the Competition: All the teams shall participate in both sessions (a Mediation Session followed by an Arbitration Session) in all the rounds. There will be a provisional cap of 40 teams who will be invited from leading law schools in India (the number of teams is subject to change based on the discretion of the ADR Board).<\/p>\n

STRUCTURE OF ROUNDS:<\/h3>\n

a) Preliminary Rounds- All Competing Teams.<\/p>\n

b) Quarter- Finals 8 top teams from preliminary rounds.<\/p>\n

c) Semi-Finals- 4 top teams from the Quarterfinal rounds.<\/p>\n

d) Finals-2 top teams from the Semi-final rounds.<\/p>\n

The participant acting as arbitrator for a particular session shall individually prepare an arbitral award within the time allotted for such an Arbitral award drafting session.<\/p>\n

Release of Problem: 12th December 2024<\/p>\n

Last date for Final Registration and Payment: 1st<\/span> January 2025<\/p>\n

Last day for seeking clarifications: 5th January 2025<\/p>\n

Last date for written submissions: 18th January, 2025<\/p>\n

Competition Dates: 13th, 14th and 15th February, 2025<\/p>\n
