The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of new Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice B.R Gavai and Justice Surya Kant, on 18-11-2024, recommended the appointment of Justice D. Krishnakumar as next Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur consequent upon the retirement of Justice Siddharth Mridul<\/a> on 21-11-2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

Justice D. Krishnakumar, who is currently serving as a Judge in Madras High Court, was appointed as a Judge on 07-4-2016 and is due to retire on 21-5-2025. He is the senior-most puisne Judge in his parent High Court and belongs to a Backward Community.<\/p>\n

Prior to his elevation as a Judge, Justice D. Krishnakumar had accumulated extensive experience while practicing as an advocate in civil, Constitutional and service matters in the High Court, with specialization in Constitutional law. The Collegium noted that Justice D. Krishnakumar is a competent judge with a sound legal acumen and is endowed with a high level of integrity and honesty.<\/p>\n

While recommending the name of Justice D. Krishnakumar, the Collegium took into consideration the fact that at present there is only one Chief Justice from the Madras High Court among the Chief Justices of the High Courts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
