Nambyar Lecture Series, which will be held on <span style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;\">September 29th and 30th, 2024<\/span>, under the aegis of the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">M.K. Nambyar SAARC Law Centre for Advanced Legal Studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The lecture series will be delivered by the renowned legal scholar <span style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;\">Prof. G. Mohan Gopal is a distinguished legal scholar who currently works independently with civil society to defend pro bono constitutional rights of marginalised sections. Prof. Gopal has previously served as Director of the National Judicial Academy and as Director of NLSIU, Bengaluru. He was also the founder chair of the Supreme Court&#8217;s National Court Management Systems Committee. Prof. Gopal brings extensive global experience to his work. He has had a long international career working on legal and judicial systems reform in many countries across three decades. He served as Chief Counsel in the Legal Department of the World Bank in Washington, DC and as counsel in the Asian Development Bank in Manila. While at the World Bank, Prof. Gopal taught law and development at Georgetown University Law Centre, Washington, DC as an adjunct professor. He has also taught law at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. Prof. Gopal holds a doctorate in law from Harvard University. Throughout his career, Prof. Gopal has actively engaged with pressing judicial and socio-legal issues to advance democracy and social justice, including in his notable arguments before the Supreme Court of India in 2022, against reservations for Economically Weaker Sections.<\/p>\n<h3>The M.K. Nambyar SAARC Law Centre:<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The M.K. Nambyar SAARC Law Centre was established in 2003 at NALSAR, under the patronage of Mr. K.K. Venugopal, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India. The Centre was recently revived, with the appointment of Retired Justice S. Ravindra Bhat as the Chair of Comparative Constitutional Law Studies. The Centre seeks to focus on academic research, writing and deliberation on issues of Indian constitutional law, comparative constitutional law and other legal issues common to South Asian nations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">We encourage you all to participate in this insightful event and contribute to the dialogue on this vital topic.
