Madras High Court:<\/span> In a writ petition filed against the prospectus issued by Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (\u2018University\u2019) , for the Admission Notification for Undergraduate Degree Programmes 2024-2025 and quash the same as illegal for not categorizing transgenders under special category and further, to direct the University to admit the petitioner in Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry Course under Special Category as Transgender, M. Dhandapani, J. without interfering with the impugned Admission Notification issued by the University, directed it to consider the application of the petitioner and place the petitioner appropriately, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.<\/p>\n

The petitioner had made an application for the course of Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry on 26-06-2024 and the said application was received by the University. However, in the impugned Admission Notification issued by the University, there was no clause available regarding transgender person. Hence, the present writ petition was filed.<\/p>\n

The petitioner submitted that it would suffice if this Court directs the University to consider the petitioner’s application and place the petitioner appropriately, if the petitioner secures merit.<\/p>\n

In view of the limited request of the petitioner, the Court without interfering with the impugned Admission Notification issued by the University directed it to consider the application of the petitioner and place the petitioner appropriately within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.<\/p>\n

The Court directed the University to not reject the application of the petitioner on the ground of being a transgender person.<\/p>\n
