The President of India in exercise of the power conferred by Article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0001574965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">223<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0002726967\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Constitution<\/a>, made the appointment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Justice Thangkhiew, will perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice with effect from 17-08-2024 consequent upon retirement of Justice S. Vaidyanathan, Chief Justice, Meghalaya High Court on 16-08-2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Justice Thangkhiew was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2023\/11\/01\/justice-hamarsan-singh-thangkhiew-appoited-acting-cj-meghalaya-hc-legal-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously appointed<\/a> as Acting Chief Justice on with effect from 02-11-2023, after the retirement of then Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Justice Sanjib Banerjee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-style: italic;\">Justice Thangkhiew will perform the duties of the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court consequent upon the retirement of Chief Justice S.
