{"id":328727,"date":"2024-08-14T18:45:29","date_gmt":"2024-08-14T13:15:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=328727"},"modified":"2024-08-17T14:53:32","modified_gmt":"2024-08-17T09:23:32","slug":"appointment-high-court-judges-advocates-recommendation-sc-collegium-legal-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2024\/08\/14\/appointment-high-court-judges-advocates-recommendation-sc-collegium-legal-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of Judges for three High Courts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, CJI, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai, on 13-8-2024, recommended several names to be appointed as Judges for the High Courts of Allahabad, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The recommended names are as follows-<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;\">Allahabad High Court<\/p>\n<p style=\"\">The Collegium recommended the names of 9 Additional Judges to be appointed Permanent Judges-<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(i) Justice Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi,<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(ii) Justice Manish Kumar Nigam,<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(iii) Justice Anish Kumar Gupta,<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(iv) Justice Nand Prabha Shukla,<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(v) Justice Kshitij Shailendra,<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(vi) Justice Vinod Diwakar,<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(vii) Justice Prashant Kumar,<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(viii) Justice Manjive Shukla, and<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">(ix) Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;\">Andhra Pradesh High Court<\/p>\n<p style=\"\">The Collegium recommended the names of 2 Additional Judges to appointed as Permanent Judges<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(i) Justice Venkata Jyothirmai Pratapa, and<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">(ii) Justice Venuthurumalli Gopala Krishna Rao<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;\">Gujarat High Court<\/p>\n<p style=\"\">The Collegium recommended the names of 4 Advocates to be appointed as Judges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(i) Sanjeev Jayendra Thaker,<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">(ii) Deeptendra Narayan Ray @ D N Ray<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">(iii) Maulik Jitendra Shelat<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Remission for Re-consideration<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Tejal Vashi, Advocate<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Collegium had to consider the elevation of Advocate Tejal Vashi for elevation as a Judge of Gujarat High Court. The Collegium considered the inputs provided by the Department of Justice in the file, wherein it was indicated that the candidate enjoys a good personal and professional image and that there is nothing adverse about her integrity. On an overall consideration of the proposal,<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Collegium was of the considered view that the proposal for elevation of Tejal Vashi be remitted to the Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court for being re-considered with other eligible candidates in future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-style: italic;\">On
