This Conference is organized in light of rapid developments in AI and Law and, adoption of AI in law, Justice and Judicial System. Supreme Court of India is using AI facilitated SUPACE and greater thrust in use of AI in law and Justice. AI based tools in now part of Ecourts Modernization Phase III. Many law firms are using AI based tools while legal tech start ups are active in developing AI based products and services. Globally AI is transforming law and justice in many ways. Hence there is a need for such a conference. This is part of NALSAR&#8217;s work and engagement with this theme. As a top ranking Law University in India, NALSAR is taking many initiatives in this theme. For participating in this Conference no prior registration is needed and there is no fee for participation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">The Conference on 10<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">th<\/span> August:<\/span> This conference organized with LCI is one of the many initiatives NALSAR is taking up. It will be a forerunner to workshops, seminars and conferences to be held in future. A team from Law Commission of India, including three members, Member-Secretary and Joint Secretary, Department of Law are participating in the Conference. Substantial issues are addressed in two sessions and the Conference begins with an Inaugural Session and ends with a Valedictory Session. This conference brings together representatives of different stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Speakers are from inter alia, ITE&amp;C Department, Government of Telangana, academics from inter alia, IIIT- Hyderabad, NLU Delhi, IIT-Khragpur, and, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, legal tech\/law firms and industry. The Conference begins with an Inaugural Session. The welcome address is by Professor Srikrishna Deva Rao, VC, NALSAR. The Key Note Address is by a top-ranking policy maker in IT&amp; Emerging Technologies, followed by Special Remarks Dr. Reeta Vasishta, Member-Secretary, Law Commission of India and by a Special Address by a former Chairman of NASSCOM who is an eminent industrialist as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Theme for Session 1: AI IN LAW &amp; JUSTICE IN INDIA (PRESENT AND FUTURE). A member of the Law Commission Chairs this session. The Theme for Session 2: AI AND PRINCIPLE OF JUSTICE &amp; IMPLICATIONS FOR JUSTICE (CHAT GPT, GENERATIVE AI AND EMERGING TRENDS. The Chair for this session is an eminent pioneer in start-ups and policy making in Hi-Tech sector. The Valedictory Address is to be given by Dr. Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary, Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">NALSAR, AI Law and Justice:<\/span> NALSAR is working with UNESCO on AI and its use by Judiciary as part of UNESCO&#8217;s global initiative on AI and Justice. NALSAR in association with Center for Responsible AI (CeRAI), IIT- Madras is developing and offering courses in Responsible AI, covering AI, Law and Justice related themes including data protection and AI applications in Law, We are offering courses on AI, Law and Justice to LLB and LLM students. We are planning several initiatives in this theme and are enhancing our capacity to teach, do research and publish on AI, Law and Justice. We are also working with Department of IT, Government of Telangana and NASSCOM.
