On 03-07-2024, the Ministry of Law and Justice notified the appointment of Dr. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Judge, High Court of Orissa, as the 15th<\/span> Chief Justice of the High Court of Jharkhand.<\/p>\n

The President of India in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 217(1)<\/a> of the Constitution<\/a>, made the afore-stated appointment. Dr Justice BR Sarangi will be taking over the reins of Jharkhand High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.<\/p>\n

Supreme Court Collegium on 27-12-2023 recommended<\/a> the appointment of Dr. Justice B R Sarangi, as next Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court after the post fell vacant with the High Court’s former Chief Justice, Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra retiring on 28-12-2023.<\/p>\n

Justice Sarangi was elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Orissa after completing 27 years of regular practice at the Bar before the High Court of Orissa and the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

While considering his name, the Collegium considered that after the retirement of Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, there would be no representation of the High Court of Orissa among the Chief Justices of the High Courts.<\/p>\n

Currently, Justice Shree Chandrasekhar is functioning as the Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court w.e.f 29-12-2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
