On 21-06-2024, the Department of Telecommunications of the Ministry of Communications notified the enforcement date on which the provisions of Sections 1<\/a>, 2<\/a>, 10<\/a> to 30<\/a>, 42<\/a> to 44<\/a>, 46<\/a>, 47<\/a>, 50<\/a> to 58<\/a>, 61<\/a>, and 62<\/a> of the Telecommunications Act, 2023<\/a> (‘Act’) would come into force. The date of enforcement of these provisions is 26-06-2024.<\/p>\n

Key Points:<\/p>\n

  1. \n

    Following are some of the provisions of the Act that will come into effect through this partial enforcement:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Chapter III of the Act consisting of Sections 10 to 18 provides for the ‘Right Way for Telecommunication Network’.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Chapter IV of the Act consisting of Sections 19 to 23 provides for the ‘Standards, Public Safety, National Security, and Protection of Telecommunication Networks’.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Chapter V consisting of Sections 24 to 26 provides for the establishment and administration of ‘Digital Bharat Nidhi’.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Chapter VI consisting of Section 27 provides for the creation of a regulatory sandbox for innovation and technological development.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Chapter VII consisting of Sections 28 to 30 lays down measures for the protection of users, the duty of the users as well as the dispute resolution mechanism to redress user grievances.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Chapter IX consisting of Sections 42 to 44 lays down provisions regarding the offences.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Sections 46 and 47 provide for the certification for the operation of radio equipment on a vessel or aircraft and for amateur station operators respectively.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
