The Judges were appointed by the President of India in exercise of the power conferred by Article 217(1) and Article 224(1) of the Constitution respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Supreme Court Collegium on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2024\/05\/18\/sc-collegium-recommends-appointment-of-judges-hc-supreme-court-legal-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">17-05-2024 had recommended<\/a> the appointment of the following Judges<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\">Gauhati High Court<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Justice Susmita Phukan Khaund<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Justice Mitali Thakuria<\/span>, Additional Judges of the &#8216; Gauhati High Court, were appointed to be Permanent Judges with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\">Jammu and Kashmir High Court<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Justice Rajesh Sekhri<\/span>, Additional Judge of High Court of Jammu &amp; Kashmir and Ladakh, was appointed as an Additional Judge for a period of one-year w.e.f. 29-07-2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Justice Sekhri&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2024\/05\/18\/sc-collegium-recommends-appointment-of-judges-hc-supreme-court-legal-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extension of term as Additional Judge<\/a> has been made because there is no vacancy of Permanent Judge against which Justice Sekhri could be considered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p
