On 11-06-2024, the Ministry of Law and Justice notified the appointment of 3 High Court Judges- 2 Permanent Judges of Gauhati High Court and 1 Additional Judge of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. The Judges were appointed by the President of India in exercise of the power conferred by Article 217(1) and Article 224(1) of the Constitution respectively.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court Collegium on 17-05-2024 had recommended<\/a> the appointment of the following Judges<\/p>\n

Gauhati High Court<\/p>\n

Justice Susmita Phukan Khaund<\/span> and Justice Mitali Thakuria<\/span>, Additional Judges of the ‘ Gauhati High Court, were appointed to be Permanent Judges with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.<\/p>\n

Jammu and Kashmir High Court<\/p>\n

Justice Rajesh Sekhri<\/span>, Additional Judge of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, was appointed as an Additional Judge for a period of one-year w.e.f. 29-07-2024.<\/p>\n

Justice Sekhri’s extension of term as Additional Judge<\/a> has been made because there is no vacancy of Permanent Judge against which Justice Sekhri could be considered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
