{"id":323999,"date":"2024-06-10T17:30:28","date_gmt":"2024-06-10T12:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=323999"},"modified":"2024-06-10T17:35:01","modified_gmt":"2024-06-10T12:05:01","slug":"sc-refuses-quash-charges-against-former-karnataka-minister-vinay-kulkarni-bjp-worker-murder-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2024\/06\/10\/sc-refuses-quash-charges-against-former-karnataka-minister-vinay-kulkarni-bjp-worker-murder-case\/","title":{"rendered":"SC refuses to quash charges against former Karnataka Minister and MLA Vinay Kulkarni in BJP worker&#8217;s murder case"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Supreme Court:<\/span> The Vacation Division Bench of PV Sanjay Kumar and Augustine Masih refused to set aside the criminal charges against the Congress Karnataka MLA Vinay Rajashekharappa Kulkarni for the alleged murder of a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Karnataka High Court Order upheld the charges framed by the Special Court against Kulkarni and 20 others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The deceased was a Dharwad zila panchayat member of the BJP from Hebballi constituency and was murdered on 15-06-2016. The CBI took over the investigation, identified and arrested several accused and filed a charge sheet. Kulkarni was also arrested and his bail plea was rejected several times.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The CBI in February 2021 had also filed a supplementary charge sheet in the CBI Special Court which included 21 accused including Kulkarni.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Source:<\/span> Press<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-style: italic;\">The deceased was a BJP worker from the Dharwad zila panchayat from Hebballi constituency and was murdered on 15-06-2016.
