An International Conference on “Green Governance, Climate Justice, Trade & Environmental Rights: Constitutional & Legal Perspectives” is<\/span> being organised by HNLU to commemorate the World Environment Day on June 5, 2024<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The conference to be held online<\/span> under the aegis of the Centre for Environmental Laws, Centre for Constitutionalism and Federalism, and Centre for WTO-WIPO Studies, aims to delve into the multifaceted dimensions of the environment-related discourse.<\/p>\n

The Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) is organizing an International Conference on “Green Governance, Climate Justice, Trade & Environmental Rights: Constitutional & Legal Perspectives”<\/span> to commemorate World Environment Day on June 5, 2024<\/span>. The conference to be held online under the aegis of the Centre for Environmental Laws, Centre for Constitutionalism and Federalism, and Centre for WTO-WIPO Studies, aims to delve into the multifaceted dimensions of the environment-related discourse.<\/p>\n

ABOUT HNLU:<\/p>\n

Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) is a premier st institute for legal education and research and is in its 21year of establishment. The University’s motto, \/keZ laLFkkiukFkZe translates to ‘for the sake of establishing the primacy of laws of eternal values.’ In line with this ethos, HNLU strives to provide advanced legal education that shapes students into more than just legal professionals; it instils in them a profound responsibility to contribute to society. In recent years, the university has introduced a series of seminal initiatives, such as Lex Osmose, Ex-Arca, HNLU Press, Sui Generis, HEXA, HAAI and R-Has. The Research-Hub and Spoke (R-HaS) constitutes Five Hubs structured as School for Law & Technology, School for Law & Public Policy, School for Law & Humanities, School for Law & Business and School for Law & Governance. Each School has ve dedicated Research Centres. This Conference is being organised under the aegis of the following three centres of school.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:<\/p>\n

The conference recognizes the global importance of the climate change discussion, which addresses environmental equity, justice, economic, and technical challenges on an unprecedented scale. In this context, grappling with climate change is compounded by pragmatic and political realities, including the urgent need to alleviate poverty, address governance issues, and adhere to the principle of “Common but Differentiated Responsibility and Respective Capabilities (CBDR)”. Despite India’s rich history of grassroots environmental movements, the environment continues to degrade alarmingly. Bridging the gap between rhetoric and implementation is imperative, necessitating concrete environmental action plans.<\/p>\n

At its core, the conference emphasizes environmental constitutionalism, advocating for constitutional protections for the environment, encompassing both rights and duties of the State and individuals. By serving as a platform for innovative solutions, policies, and practices, the conference seeks to foster comprehensive and inclusive approaches to sustainable development.<\/p>\n

As we approach World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, the conference assumes heightened relevance, aiming to inspire action and collaboration towards a world where climate justice and sustainable development are universally upheld.<\/p>\n

The conference calls for abstracts and full papers from academicians, research scholars, students, professionals, environment enthusiasts, and other relevant stakeholders. It will enrich the existing corpus of knowledge and innovation in the domain. <\/p>\n
