Supreme Court:<\/span> The vacation Bench of Dipankar Datta and Satish Chandra, JJ. refused to entertain former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s plea challenging his arrest by the Directorate of Enforcement in a money laundering case.<\/p>\n

This view was taken by the Supreme Court after Soren had filed two separate pleas — one challenging his arrest and another seeking bail but had failed to disclose that the Trial Court had taken cognizance of the offence.<\/p>\n

Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED on 31-01-2024 under the allegation that he illegally acquired an 8.86 acre of land in Ranchi with the help of State Government officials and others. He has been detained at Birsa Munda Central Jail since 01-02-2024.<\/p>\n

On 13-05-2024, the Special Court had refused to grant him bail.<\/p>\n

Hemant Soren was arrested on 31-01-2024 and resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Jharkhand on the same
