Supreme Court:<\/span> The Division Bench comprising of Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah, JJ. issued contempt notice to two members of the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC) for ignoring an interim order passed by the Court on 01-03-2024 and issuing non-bailable warrants against the Directors of Ireo Grace Realtech.<\/p>\n

Previously, the Bench issued notice to the Presiding Member and the Member of the NCDRC, calling upon them to explain how the order was passed on 02-04-2024, ignoring the Court’s interim order. The Court was not convinced with the explanation that was advanced by the Members hence, the contempt notice was issued.<\/p>\n

The matter before the NCDRC was related to the homebuyers who were aggrieved by the delay in handing over possession of flats in Gurugram’s ‘The Corridor’ housing project. Thus, execution proceedings were initiated by various homebuyers before the NCDRC against the project developer, Ireo Grace, after the homebuyers secured orders awarding them compensation by the National consumer forum. Aggrieved, the project developer approached the Court challenging such an award of compensation by way of civil appeals. The Court gave interim protection vide order dated 01-03-2024 to Ireo Grace while issuing notice. By this interim order, the Court restrained the NCDRC from taking any coercive steps against Ireo Grace.<\/p>\n
