{"id":319809,"date":"2024-04-09T17:45:02","date_gmt":"2024-04-09T12:15:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=319809"},"modified":"2024-04-09T18:18:53","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T12:48:53","slug":"sc-allows-up-mla-abbas-ansari-to-attend-his-father-fatiha-ceremony-legal-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2024\/04\/09\/sc-allows-up-mla-abbas-ansari-to-attend-his-father-fatiha-ceremony-legal-news\/","title":{"rendered":"SC allows jailed UP MLA Abbas Ansari to attend his father Mukhtar Ansari\u2019s fatiha ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Supreme Court:<\/span> The Division Bench comprising of Surya Kant and KV Viswanathan, JJ. permitted Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Abbas Ansari to attend a &#8216;Fatiha&#8217; ceremony of his father Mukhtar Ansari, who died on 28-03-2024 allegedly due to a cardiac arrest after being taken to Rani Durgawati Medical College.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court directed that Abbas be taken to Ghazipur with police security by 5 PM today and be brought back to Kasganj jail on 13-04-2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Abbas is currently in jail over an arms license case, where it was alleged that huge quantities of arms and ammunition were recovered from his premises in New Delhi. Metal-jacketed bullets were also recovered, which were not allowed by a shooter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">In 2023, the Allahabad High Court had denied his bail plea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">On 29-03-2024, the District Court, Banda had ordered a judicial inquiry into the death of gangster turned politician former MLA Mukhtar Ansari after his death.<\/p>\n<p
