Supreme Court:<\/b> In a plea by Maharashtra Government seeking stay on orders of acquittal of Professor GN Saibaba and 5 others in a matter pertaining to offences under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967<\/a> (‘UAPA’) over allegations of Maoist links, the Division Bench of BR Gavai and Sandeep Mehta, JJ. Prima facie found the judgment passed by the Bombay High Court to be well-reasoned. The Court refused to pass any urgent order to reverse such an order of acquittal.<\/p>\n

The Court had earlier set aside acquittal order and remitted the matter back for fresh disposal by another Bench of High Court.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Court, while refusing to interfere with the acquittal order, also pointed out the fact that all 6 people had been acquitted twice by the different Benches of the High Court.<\/p>\n
