Supreme Court:<\/span> In an application filed by the Hindu worshippers seeking a directive to the Varanasi District Magistrate for cleaning a water tank that falls in the sealed area inside the mosque, due to dead fish in the tank, the Three-Judge Bench of Dr. DY Chandrachud , CJI., JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra , JJ. permitted the cleaning of Gyanvapi mosque’s water tank (wuzukhana), where a purported Shivling was discovered during a Court ordered survey.<\/p>\n

The Gyanvapi mosque management committee supported the cleaning of the water tank, which has remained sealed on Court orders for nearly two years.<\/p>\n

The Court directed that the cleaning of the water tank be carried out under the supervision of the district administration Varanasi, having regard to the previous orders of this court.<\/p>\n
