The 7th edition of the National Symposium on Landmark Judgements of 2023 was impeccably organized by Think India at the prestigious Prime Ministers Museum and Library, Teen Murti Bhawan in New Delhi on January 7, 2024.<\/p>\n

This distinguished event comprised four sessions, each dedicated to a significant legal milestone of 2023.<\/p>\n

The Session I — Administrative Tussle over Governance in National Capital<\/span> dwelled into the NCT of Delhi<\/span> v. Union of India<\/span> case, featuring esteemed speakers Additional Solicitor General Sr. Adv. Sh. Vikramjit Banerjee<\/span> and Senior Advocate Sanjoy Ghose<\/span>. The session explored the intricacies of the case involving the National Capital Territory of Delhi and its relationship with the Union of India. Discussions may have covered constitutional aspects, governance issues, and the legal implications of the case<\/p>\n

Session 2<\/span> explored the discussion over the Same-Sex Marriages<\/span> judgement from Supriyo @ Supriya Chakrabarty & Anr. Vs. Union of India skillfully addressed by Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan<\/span> and Dr. Seema Singh<\/span>, Faculty of Law at Delhi University.<\/p>\n

This session delved into the legal landscape surrounding same-sex marriages, the recognition of such marriages, associated rights, and the evolving legal framework concerning LGBTQ+ rights.<\/p>\n

In Session 3<\/span>, the focus shifted to the Stamping of Arbitration Agreements<\/span>, with insights provided by Senior Advocate Gourab Banerji<\/span> and Senior Advocate Jayant Mehta<\/span>. Discussions involved the formalities, documentation, and legal implications of ensuring the validity of arbitration agreement particularly focussing the guidelines given in In Re, Interplay Between Arbitration Agreements Under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 and the Indian Stamp Act 1899.<\/p>\n

Session 4<\/span> centered on the Abrogation of Article 370<\/span>, focusing on the significant constitutional change, this session discussed the decision of the 5 Judges Constitutional Bench In Re — Article 370 of Constitution, which upheld the constitutional validity of the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir. Senior Advocate S. Gurukrishna Kumar<\/span> and Senior Advocate Ms. Nitya Ramakrishnan<\/span> provided insights into the legal aspects, implications, and consequences of this decision.<\/p>\n

The culminating Valedictory Session, chaired by Hon’ble Mr. Justice A.R. Massodi<\/span>, a senior judge from the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court, and Dr. B Ramaswamy<\/span>, a Senior Standing Counsel, added a prestigious touch to the symposium.<\/p>\n
