On 5-1-2024, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways published the Central Motor Vehicles (First Amendment) Rules, 2024 to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989<\/a>. The provisions came into effect on 5-1-2024.<\/p>\n

Key Points:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n

    The table relating to “Application of Test Requirements for Type-Approval-BS VI<\/span>” has been revised making the provisions more specific.<\/p>\n

    Now<\/span>, it related to “Emission Standards for Vehicles of Category M and N with gross weight not exceeding 3000Kg- Applicability of test requirements for Type-Approval AL-BS-VI<\/span>”.<\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Test will be on the Chassis Dynamometer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      There will be no relaxation of norms for conformity of production (‘CoP’) purpose and procedure for compliance will be as per AIS-137.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Crankcase ventilation systems will not permit the emission of any of the crankcase gases into the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Evaporative emission should not be more than 2.0g\/test from Gasoline fueled vehicles.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      The table relating to “Applicability of Test Requirements for BS-VI” has been revised which now specifies that this test will be specific to Emission Standards for vehicles of category M and N having gross weight exceeding 3500 Kg.<\/p>\n

      • \n

        The test shall be done on an engine dynamometer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        In the case of vehicles equipped with positive ignition engines, the gaseous and particulate emissions will be measured as per the Worldwide Harmonized Test Cycle.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
