The NHRC serves as a sentinel of human rights, entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring justice for victims of rights violations and promoting a culture of respect for human dignity. Its primary functions include receiving and investigating complaints of human rights violations, promoting human rights awareness, and recommending measures to prevent their recurrence. The NHRC&#8217;s importance can be observed from its role as a catalyst for legal and policy changes. Many of its recommendations have led to amendments in existing laws and the formulation of new policies to better protect human rights. Furthermore, the NHRC continues to play a pivotal role in raising awareness around human rights issues through various initiatives which include conducting seminars, workshops, and moot court competitions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">ABOUT THE 1<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">ST<\/span> NHRC-MNLUA NATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION, 2024<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The NHRC-MNLUA National Moot Court Competition is to be an annual event that will serve as a platform for law students to showcase their legal acumen and advocacy skills in the field of human rights. Participants from various law schools and universities across the country will converge to engage in simulated court proceedings. The Competition will typically revolve around hypothetical human rights cases &#8212;involving issues such as discrimination, torture, and freedom of expression &#8212;challenging students to argue, analyze, and defend their positions before a panel of esteemed judges. The NHRC-MNLUA National Moot Court Competition not only aims to test the participants&#8217; knowledge of human rights law but also to foster critical thinking, legal research, and advocacy skills. It encourages students to delve into the complexities of real-world human rights issues and develop persuasive arguments. This Competition not only offers a unique learning experience but also provides an opportunity for networking and interaction with legal professionals and human rights activists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">GENERAL DETAILS:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Date: February 9-11, 2024<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Mode: Offline<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Venue: Campus of Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad, Aurangabad, Maharashtra &#8212;431005.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Undergraduate<\/span> students pursuing a recognized Bachelor of Law (or an international equivalent) programme.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Only <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">ONE<\/span> team can register from a particular College or Law School for participation in the competition. In the event two registrations are received from the same College or Law School, the Team that submits the Verification Form first by the Head \/ Dean of the Institution \/ Moot Court Committee, authorizing them to participate on behalf of the College or Law School shall be entitled to participate and will be registered. The prescribed Verification Form may be <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1-kpTlAFffgExE_hCG-zVsuo7SdS9wApP\/view?usp=drive_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accessed here.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Note<\/span> &#8212;Bachelor of Law means a 3-year course post-graduation or 5-year integrated course for Indian students or an undergraduate degree in law recognized by the Bar or Regulator of where the student is undergoing education.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">TEAM COMPOSITION:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Each team shall consist of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">two speakers<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">one researcher<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">REGISTRATION DETAILS:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>The registration commences on <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">30<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">th<\/span> November 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The teams will have to register themselves <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/48qSY9SDwcA7kpnFA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at this Google Form<\/a> by completing and submitting the Registration Form available no later than <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">10.00pm IST on 31st December, 2023.<\/span> Incomplete registration forms shall not be accepted.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>A registration fee of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rs. 5000\/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only)<\/span> shall
