On 28-9-2023, the Ministry of Law and Justice notified the Constitution (One Hundred and Sixth Amendment) Act, 2023 to further amend the Constitution of India.<\/p>\n

Key Points:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. New clauses have been inserted in Article 239-AA<\/span> that focuses on:\n
      \n
    • Reservation of seats for women in Legislative Assembly of Delhi<\/span>.<\/li>\n
    • 1\/3rd<\/span> of the seats for Scheduled Castes will be reserved for women.<\/li>\n
    • 1\/3rd<\/span> of the seats that have to be filled by direct election will be reserved for women (including women belonging to Scheduled Castes).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Article 330-A<\/span> has been inserted relating to:\n
        \n
      • Reservation of seats for women in Lok Sabha or House of the People.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • 1\/3rd<\/span> of the total number of seats reserved under Article 330 (2) will be reserved for women belonging to Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes.<\/li>\n
      • 1\/3rd<\/span> of the seats that have to be filled by direct election will be reserved for women (including the number of seats reserved for women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Article 332-A<\/span> has been inserted relating to:\n
          \n
        • Reservation of seats for women in the Legislative Assembly of every State.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • 1\/3rd<\/span> of the total number of seats reserved under Article 332 (3) will be reserved for women belonging to Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes.<\/li>\n
        • 1\/3rd<\/span> of the seats that have to be filled by direct election will be reserved for women (including the number of seats reserved for women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Rotation of seats will be exercised after delimitation exercise.<\/li>\n
        • \n
