The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2023 received the assent of the President on the 11-08-2023. It will come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint; and different dates may be appointed for amendments relating to different enactments mentioned in the Schedule.<\/p>\n

Key points:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The fines and penalties provided under various provisions shall be increased by ten per cent of the minimum amount of fine or penalty, after the expiry of every three years from the date of commencement of this Act.<\/li>\n
  2. \n

    A total of 183 provisions decriminalized in 42 Central Acts administered by 19 Ministries\/Departments. Decriminalization to be achieved in the following manner: –<\/p>\n

    (i) Both Imprisonment and\/or Fine are proposed to be removed in some provisions.<\/p>\n

    (ii) Imprisonment is proposed to be removed and fine retained in few provisions.<\/p>\n

    (iii) Imprisonment is proposed to be removed and Fine enhanced in few provisions.<\/p>\n

    (iv) Imprisonment and Fine are proposed to be converted to Penalty in some provisions.<\/p>\n

    (v) Compounding of offences is proposed to be introduced in few provisions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
