Calcutta High Court:<\/b> In a case related to safety concerns of ragpickers entering the dumping yard, a Division bench of T.S. Sivagnanam, CJ., and Hiranmay Bhattacharyya, J., directed the respondent authorities to submit a comprehensive report outlining the measures that will be implemented to ensure the safety of ragpickers and prevent their unauthorized entry into the dumping yard.<\/p>\n

The petitioner filed a writ petition against the State of West Bengal with concerns regarding the safety of ragpickers entering the dumping yard. The Court directed the State Government’s appropriate authority and the West Bengal Pollution Control Board to assess the allegations raised and submit a report detailing the steps to be taken to prevent the entry of ragpickers and ensure their safety.<\/p>\n

The report is to be filed within three weeks, and the petitioner is allowed to respond to the report if needed. The Court granted the petitioner the liberty to file exceptions to the report if deemed necessary and listed the case for the subsequent hearing in six weeks.<\/p>\n
