Punjab and Haryana High Court:<\/b> After news of demolition drive did some rounds across various media platforms, a bench headed by G.S. Sandhawalia, J. took suo motu cognizance of the situation and ordered stay on the demolition of alleged illegal constructions in Nuh until further orders.<\/p>\n

After the shocking incident of violence in Nuh which quickly spread over other parts of the State, government action is being reported in numbers of FIRs, arrests for identification of culprits. While the State government was initially being called for its inaction, the Peela Panja<\/i> gripped constructions belonging to persons allegedly involved in the violence through demolition drive by the authorities attacking buildings, without any notice as reported.<\/p>\n

As per reports, a demolition drive started on 3-08-2023 by the administration without any prior notice to the occupants allegedly demolishing illegal shops, residences, concrete structures, etc., with numbers reaching more than 700 buildings belonging to persons involved in communal violence which started on 31-07-2023 during a religious procession in Nuh and spread over various parts of Haryana. In fact, a comparison of visuals showed people pelting stones from rooftop of a hotel on one screen, which was allegedly being demolished by the authorities for illegal construction on the other screen.<\/p>\n
