Bombay High Court:<\/b> In a plea for temporary medical bail filed by former minister of Maharashtra Government and NCP leader Nawab Malik in money laundering case, Anuja Prabhudessai, J. rejected the medical bail plea and said that the instant matter for regular bail would be heard on merits in two weeks.<\/p>\n

Nawab Malik was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (‘ED’) on allegations of purchasing property at a rate lower than market value. A Special Court under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002<\/a> took cognizance of the matter in May 2022 after which, Nawab Malik filed for regular bail on merits, as well as medical grounds.<\/p>\n

It was submitted that one of Nawab Malik’s kidneys had failed and the other one was functioning at 60% capacity and was deteriorating. Since the said deterioration could not be proved through any supporting medical reports before the Court, the same was highlighted by ED.<\/p>\n

The Court rejected Nawab Malik’s medical bail plea in the instant money laundering case. However, the Court said that Nawab Malik’s bail plea will be heard on merits in two weeks.<\/p>\n
