{"id":295753,"date":"2023-07-01T17:30:12","date_gmt":"2023-07-01T12:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=295753"},"modified":"2023-07-06T10:35:13","modified_gmt":"2023-07-06T05:05:13","slug":"allahabad-high-court-directs-state-specify-steps-towards-toilets-women-police-stations-legal-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2023\/07\/01\/allahabad-high-court-directs-state-specify-steps-towards-toilets-women-police-stations-legal-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Allahabad High Court directs State to specify steps taken towards providing women toilets, pure drinking water, fans etc. in police stations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><b>Allahabad High Court:<\/b> In a Public Interest Litigation (&#8216;PIL&#8217;) preferred for a direction to the State to provide basic amenities such as toiletries, pure drinking water, proper fans, dustbins, washrooms, restrooms etc. in the police stations in Prayagraj in view of privacy and dignity of women, the division bench of Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Gajendra Kumar,JJ. directed the Under Secretary, Home, Government of U.P. to file an affidavit indicating therein the progress towards allotment of funds and other necessary steps, which were taken in the matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court took note of a similar PIL filed in <i>Anjali Pandey.<\/i> v. <i>State of U.P.<\/i><a id=\"fnref1\" href=\"#fn1\" title=\"1. (PIL) No.228 of 2021\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a>, wherein the State stated that effective steps have been taken by fixing the agency for construction of women&#8217;s toilets in respective police stations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court said that the grievance of the petitioners is that despite assurance, till date no substantial progress is reflected and still the State Government has not taken any effective steps for construction of women toilets in respective police stations across the State.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Bench connected both the matters for hearing on 17-07-2023. Meanwhile, directed the Under Secretary, Home, Government of U.P. to file an affidavit indicating therein the progress towards allotment of funds and other necessary steps, which were taken in the
