Gauhati High Court:<\/b> The Division Bench of Sandeep Mehta, C.J., and Devashis Barauh, J., taking note of the sanction letter dated 26-06-2023, whereby which an amount of Rs. 6,00,000 has been sanctioned as grant-in-aid for setting up the Office of the Transgender Welfare Board, directed the State of Assam to expedite the process of constituting the Board as per the guidelines of Assam State Policy for Transgender Persons, Clause 7.3.3 and to complete the same within next 6 weeks. The Court further directed the senior Additional Government Advocate to take instructions regarding setting up of the Transgender Protection Cell.<\/p>\n

The Court also took note of the submission presented by the petitioners that the procedure laid out in the Assam State Policy for Transgender Persons is satisfactory and once the Board becomes functional, many issues being faced by the Transgender Persons will be addressed.<\/p>\n
