Allahabad High Court:<\/b> In a writ petition filed by wife of gangster and ex-member of Legislative Assembly Mukhtar Ansari, for directing the State to provide adequate safeguards and protection to Mukhtar Ansari while he is in jail and while he is produced before the Special Judge (MP\/MLA Court) or any other Court in Uttar Pradesh, pending trial in all cases in U.P. and during the pendency of the present writ before this Court , the division bench of Dr. Kaushal Jayendra Thaker and Shiv Shanker Prasad, JJ. has granted full and proper security to Mukhtar Ansari.<\/p>\n

The Court requested the Director General of Police, U.P., to ensure the safety of the petitioner’s husband, as he is apprehending the threat to his life in the jail, where he is incarcerated. Further, directed the police to provide full security to Mukhtar Ansari while shifting him from one jail to another and while producing him before any Court from jail and on the way or any other place.<\/p>\n

The Court further disallowed the media to interview him and said that Mukhtar Ansari will be accompanied by the police personnel during his ingress and egress from jail.<\/p>\n

The Court said that this order is being passed seeing the recent episode which occurred in Uttar Pradesh, wherein in the garb of media persons some criminals had killed two under trial prisoners, who were in the custody of the police personnel. Thus, to ensure the safety of Mukhtar Ansari these restrictions were ordered.<\/p>\n
