New Delhi, 1 March 2023:<\/span> National Law University Delhi is happy to announce that Professor (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Former Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, has assumed the charge of Vice Chancellor, National Law University Delhi on Tuesday, 28 February, 2023.<\/p>\n

Professor Bajpai has previously served as Registrar, NLU Delhi. He has also served as Professor of Criminology & Criminal Justice (Law); Chair Professor at K.L. Arora Chair in Criminal Law; as well as the Chairperson of the Centre for Criminology & Victimology at NLU Delhi.<\/p>\n

Professor Bajpai possesses more than thirty years of experience as a researcher and administrator. He is a prolific writer and has authored more than twenty books including the recently published Handbook of Laws and Case Laws for Victims of Crime<\/i> (Thomson Reuters, 2022) and Fast Track Courts in India Promise & Performance<\/i> (Satyam Law International, 2022). He possesses an extensive body of research work and regularly publishes opinion pieces in leading dailies like The Indian Express, The Hindu & The Tribune. He is the editor of two prestigious international journals: Journal of Victimology & Victim Justice (Sage Publications) and Indian Journal of Criminology (Indian Society of Criminology).<\/p>\n

He has worked on several government projects and has served as member and convener on various central government and state government panels. He has also served in various capacities at National Law Institute University, Bhopal, Indian Institute of Public Administration, Bureau of Police Research & Development, Punjab Police Academy, Punjab, and the Department of Criminology & Forensic Science.<\/p>\n

He has also served as Member Secretary on the Committee for Reforms in Criminal Laws appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.<\/p>\n

His contribution as Principal Investigator in creating as many as 700 e-text and videos in various areas of legal education has been remarkable.<\/p>\n

Professor Bajpai holds a doctorate in victimology and a post-doctorate in criminal justice from Leicester University, UK where he was a Commonwealth Fellow at the Department of Criminology, Leicester University, U.K. His LL.M specialisation was in Criminology & Criminal Justice.<\/p>\n
