ABOUT THE JOURNAL<\/p>\n

The NLIU Law Review is the flagship journal of the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. It is a peer-reviewed academic law journal, published biannually by the students of the University. The Law Review aims to promote a culture of scholarly research and academic writing by bringing to the forefront, articles on subjects of interest to the legal profession and academia.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM<\/p>\n

The NLIU Law Review is pleased to announce the third edition of the NLIU – India Foundation Constitutional Law Symposium, 2023 to be organized from 22 – 23 April, 2023. The aim of the Symposium is to provide a platform for discussion on contemporary constitutional law issues in India. The event consists of a paper presentation competition and multiple panel discussions held over a period of two days. The manuscripts shortlisted for the symposium shall be published in a special theme-based Issue.<\/p>\n

THEME<\/p>\n

The overarching theme for this Issue is “Individual Rights vis-à-vis the Constitutional Order<\/i>“. The detailed explanation on the theme and other sub-themes can be found on our website which can be accessed at https:\/\/nliulawreview.nliu.ac.in\/<\/a><\/p>\n

SUB THEMES<\/p>\n

1. Technological Advancements, Individualism and Fundamental Rights<\/p>\n

– Technology & the right to privacy: The new draft Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2022<\/p>\n

– Revisiting Article 19 in the age of social media – Academic freedom in the context of right to education<\/p>\n

2. Individualism with regard to the Right to Freedom of Religion<\/p>\n

– Anti-conversion laws and personal autonomy<\/p>\n

– Same sex marriages and inter-religious marriages (right to choose one’s partner)<\/p>\n

– Examining Uniform Civil Code and personal laws through the lens of individualism – Freedom of speech and blasphemy laws<\/p>\n

– Constitutionality of religious practices<\/p>\n

3. The Spirit of Constitutionalism, Good Governance and Collective Justice<\/p>\n

– Role of judiciary in good governance<\/p>\n

– Balancing judicial accountability and judicial independence within the constitutional framework<\/p>\n

– The right to equality and affirmative action in context of the recent judicial pronouncements<\/p>\n

– Re-examining the scope of judicial review in the Indian constitution<\/p>\n

– Re-imaging the doctrine of separation of powers for the 21st century<\/p>\n

Note: The sub-themes and topics mentioned thereunder are suggestive in nature and manuscripts that fall under the ambit of the overarching theme will also be considered for review.<\/p>\n
