Call For Submissions to the Law School Policy Review<\/b><\/p>\n

The Law School Policy Review (LSPR), a student-run online platform centered on law and policy and run by the students of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore, is now inviting original and unpublished submissions to its blog and monthly newsletter.<\/p>\n

About LSPR<\/b><\/p>\n

The Law School Policy Review (LSPR) was founded by a group of students at NLSIU in 2018 with the singular goal of generating and hosting open-access discourse, debate, and discussion on law and policy in the wider context of India society, law, politics, economy, and governmental affairs. LSPR currently hosts a multitude of articles and posts on wide-ranging issues, including public law, commercial law, constitutionalism, foreign policy, economic policy, public administration, and the like.<\/p>\n

The blog component of our platform has featured guest articles from the likes of Shri Vijay Gokhale<\/a>, I.F.S. (retd.) (former Foreign Secretary), Mr. Basil Oberholzer<\/a> (Economist and Legislator in Switzerland), Prof. Mary Lawlor<\/a> (U.N. Special Rapporteur), Dr. N.C. Saxena<\/a>, I.A.S. (retd.), and Dr. Aparna Mathur<\/a> (former Senior Economist at the Council of Economic Advisers, The White House). NLSIU faculty members – Prof. (Dr.) T.S. Somashekhar<\/a> and Prof. Rashmi Venkatesan<\/a> – have also contributed articles, along with other prominent academics, such as Prof. Tiju Thomas<\/a> (Faculty at IIT – Madras). Additionally, LSPR regularly features articles written by students at NLSIU and other universities\/colleges across India.<\/p>\n

The Article<\/b><\/p>\n

Our primary goal at LSPR is to generate and host accessible discourse on issues of contemporary relevance. To that end, we invite students, academicians, practitioners, and professionals to contribute to our blog and newsletter on topics or areas of law centered around the recent judgment of the Supreme Court in Aishat Shifa<\/i> v. State of Karnataka<\/i>. Articles on related areas such as the Essential Religious Practices Doctrine can also be submitted.<\/p>\n

Our submission guidelines are available here<\/a>. The deadline for submitting the blog pieces is November 15, 2022.<\/p>\n

Additionally, we also invite submissions for the ‘LSPR Monthly Newsletter.’ Submission guidelines for the newsletter contributions are as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. \n

    The submission should deal with highly contemporary issues concerning any area of the law or government policy, preferably dealing with events which have occurred within 4 weeks<\/span> of the author's submission. Only original content developed by the author(s) will be accepted. Submissions will be screened for plagiarism.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    The submission should be concise, analytical and must provide a clear understanding of the contemporary issue it discusses. It is advisable that authors avoid excessive use of technical, legal jargon for Newsletter submissions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Submissions must be emailed to lawschoolpolicyreview@nls.ac.in<\/a> in the form of a word document. The subject of the email should be ‘Submission — Newsletter'<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    The submission should preferably be between 800 — 1,000<\/span> words. This stipulation is flexible at the Editors' discretion in exceptional cases.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    The body of the email must contain a short bio of the author(s) and the name of the institution that they are affiliated to. Co-authorship of up to three authors<\/span> is permitted.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    The submission should contain a title.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  7. \n

    References<\/span> must be in the form of hyperlinks, linked to keywords and phrases in the body of the submission. Use of footnotes\/endnotes should be limited to offline sources only. For footnotes\/endnotes, the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities<\/a> (OSCOLA) (4th edition) must be adhered to. Authors are advised to be precise while referencing, such as by hyperlinking the relevant statutes and judgements, and citing the precise provisions and chronology in brackets.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  8. \n

    Authors are also requested to attach an image<\/span> to accompany the piece. The Image should be representative of the submission's topic, area or argument. It should be high quality (upwards of 1000p) with an aspect ratio of 2:1. Please mention the image source<\/i> in the email, for the purpose of giving creator credits.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  9. \n

    Important<\/span>: The authors must include a declaration in the body of the mail, as to the bona fides<\/i> of their submission. A sample declaration to that effect can be: “The article is an original work of the author(s). I\/We certify that the intellectual content of this article is the product of my\/our own work. No part of this article has been copied from any other source without acknowledgement of the source.”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
