She is in friendship with a boy who belongs to another religion. The petitioner is being forced by her family to marry a person who is 52 years old.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">On 22-09-2022, the petitioner made a representation before the Governor, Chief Minister and Senior Superintendent of Police stating that the boy and his family members are targeted and even the petitioner&#8217;s life is in threat.<\/p>\n<p><b>Observation and Analysis:<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court said, <i>&#8220;the right to marry a person of choice was held to be integral to Article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0001574949\">21<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0002726967\">Constitution of India<\/a> where the autonomy of an individual inter alia in relation to family and marriage were held to be integral to the dignity of the individual.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court further said that <i>&#8220;Nowadays, educated younger boys and girls are choosing their life partners which, in turn is a departure from the earlier norms of society where caste and community play a major role.<\/i> <b>There is every likelihood that this is the way forward where caste and community tensions will reduce by such inter-marriage, however these youngsters face threats by the elders of their own family.<\/b>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court directed the Senior Superintendent of Police to hear the petitioner and pass appropriate order so that her dignity and life can be protected.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">[<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #632423;\">Sana Rashid v.
