{"id":274541,"date":"2022-09-27T11:30:33","date_gmt":"2022-09-27T06:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=274541"},"modified":"2022-09-27T11:30:33","modified_gmt":"2022-09-27T06:00:33","slug":"registration-of-international-mobile-equipment-identity-number-vide-prevention-of-tampering-of-the-mobile-device-equipment-identification-number-amendment-rules-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2022\/09\/27\/registration-of-international-mobile-equipment-identity-number-vide-prevention-of-tampering-of-the-mobile-device-equipment-identification-number-amendment-rules-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration of International Mobile Equipment Identity Number vide Prevention of tampering of the Mobile Device Equipment Identification Number (Amendment) Rules, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"text-indent: 18pt;\">&#160; &#160;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Central Government has notified Prevention of tampering of the Mobile Device Equipment Identification Number (Amendment) Rules, 2022 to amend the prevention of tampering of the Mobile Device Equipment Identification Number, Rules, 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">The amendment inserts a new Rule dealing with Registration of International Mobile Equipment Identity Number providing that the manufacturer must register the international mobile equipment identity number of every mobile phone manufactured in India with the Indian Counterfeited Device Restriction portal (<a href=\"https:\/\/icdr.ceir.gov.in\">https:\/\/icdr.ceir.gov.in<\/a>) of the Government of India in the Department of Telecommunications prior to the first sale of the mobile phone. The said clause will come into effect from January 01, 2023. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">The amendment also provides that the international mobile equipment identity number of the mobile phone imported in India for sale, testing, research or any other purpose shall be registered by the importer with the Indian Counterfeited<br \/>Device Restriction portal (<a href=\"https:\/\/icdr.ceir.gov.in\">https:\/\/icdr.ceir.gov.in<\/a>) of the Government of India in the Department of Telecommunications prior to import of mobile phone into the country.
