{"id":266945,"date":"2022-05-17T10:00:31","date_gmt":"2022-05-17T04:30:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=266945"},"modified":"2022-05-17T09:36:37","modified_gmt":"2022-05-17T04:06:37","slug":"meity-directed-to-provide-original-copy-of-blocking-order-and-post-decisional-hearing-to-owner-and-creator-of-website-dowry-calculator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2022\/05\/17\/meity-directed-to-provide-original-copy-of-blocking-order-and-post-decisional-hearing-to-owner-and-creator-of-website-dowry-calculator\/","title":{"rendered":"MeitY directed to provide original copy of blocking order and post-decisional hearing to owner and creator of website \u2018Dowry Calculator\u2019: Del HC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Delhi High Court:<\/strong> The Division Bench of Manmohan and Dinesh Kumar Sharma, JJ., in a matter with regard to blocking of a website \u2018Dowry Calculator\u2019, directed the MeitY committee to give a copy of the order to the creator of the website.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Counsel of the petitioner had submitted that the petitioner runs a satirical website under the name \u201cDowry Calculator\u201d, further he contended that the respondents did not follow the prescribed procedure before taking the impugned action of blocking the said website.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Further, the counsel added that no notice was issued, and no hearing was accorded to the petitioner before blocking the website.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 11<sup>th<\/sup> May 2022, the respondents counsel stated that they were willing to give a post-decisional hearing to the petitioner, including an opportunity to take corrective measures, if found necessary. To this, the petitioner agreed to participate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hence, High Court directed the Committee constituted by MeitY under the Blocking Rules, 2009 to give a post-decisional hearing to the counsel for the petitioner on 23-5-2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additionally, the High Court expressed that the copy of the original blocking order, after redacting the portion pertaining to the third parties, shall be furnished to the petitioner after 23<sup>rd<\/sup> May, 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Court also directed the Committee under the Blocking Rules, 2009 to furnish a report to this Court as well as to the petitioner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Matter to be listed on 14-9-2022.[Tanul Thakur v.
