On March 17, 2022, the Governor of Maharashtra on March 17, 2022 has issued Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Amendment) Act, 2022 to further amend the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Key Amendments:<\/span><\/h4>\n
    \n
  • Section 17 which specify \u201cFurnishing of Identity Card\u201d has been omitted.<\/li>\n
  • Section 36A dealing with ‘Name Board to be in Marathi’ has been inserted. The provision states:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    1. The Name Board of every establishment registered under section 6, or of every establishment to which section 7 apply, shall be in Marathi language in Devnagari script.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Provided that, the employer of such establishment may also have the Name Board in any other language and script in addition to Marathi in Devnagari script.<\/p>\n

      Provided further that, lettering in Marathi language shall essentially be written in the beginning on the Name Board and the font size of the letters in Marathi Language shall not be smaller than the font size of the letters in any other language.<\/p>\n
