The UAE Government has adopted a four and half day working week with Saturday Sundays as off days on December 7, 2021.<\/p>\n

Key highlights:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n
    \n
  • The law will come into effect from January 1, 2022.<\/li>\n
  • Public sector workers at the ministerial level will adopt a four and a half day working week, with employees working Monday to Thursday. There will be a half day on Fridays. Saturday and Sunday will be the new weekend for government workers.<\/li>\n
  • The new working hours for government institutions shall be, Monday to Thursday workdays beginning at 7:30 a.m. and finishing at 3:30 p.m., and Friday work hours beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 12:00 pm.<\/li>\n
  • Under the new law, Friday sermons and prayers will begin at 1:15 pm across the UAE.<\/li>\n
  • Government employees will have the option of working from home on Fridays and scheduling their work hours on a flexi-time basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
