ABOUT RGNUL <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of\u00a0Law, Patiala (RGNUL) is an autonomous National\u00a0Law\u00a0University (NLU) established by the RGNUL Act (No. 12 of 2006) passed by the Legislature of the State of Punjab, under the second wave of reforms instituted by the Bar Council of India. Established in 2006, RGNUL has garnered a pan-India reputation as a stellar institution for legal research and education. In May 2015, RGNUL became the first and the only NLU to have been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an \u2018A\u2019 grade. In March 2018, RGNUL was amongst the four NLUs to have been granted an autonomous status by the University Grants Commission.<\/p>\n

The University has been ranked among the top 10\u00a0law\u00a0schools in India in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.<\/p>\n

ABOUT LAW & TECH TIMES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Law & Tech Times is a student-run, blind peer-reviewed newsletter\/blog, working under Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property (CIIPR), and based at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. About the Guest Speaker<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Samraat Basu is currently employed as\u00a0Lecturer\u00a0in Law & Tech at Tilburg\u00a0University. He pursued an Advanced LLM in Law and Digital Technologies from Leiden University, The Hague, Netherlands. He has worked with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas in its TMT \/ Data Protection Team for close to two years where he advised leading multinational companies on their nuanced queries regarding privacy, gaming, artificial intelligence and machine learning, telemedicine, Aadhaar, fin-tech and other emergent technology and data protection related issues.<\/p>\n

He was previously a research fellow with Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy where he provided legal advice, research assistance and policy inputs to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Ministry of Finance and the Srikrishna Committee on the Personal Data Protection Bill. He regularly writes for media outlets such as The Economic Times, Hindustan Times-Mint, The Wire, The Indian Express, Firstpost and the Oxford Business Law Blog, and has published academic articles in journals like International Company and Commercial Law Review (Sweet & Maxwell) and Data Protection Leader Journal (Data Guidance).<\/p>\n
