{"id":254881,"date":"2021-09-29T15:30:19","date_gmt":"2021-09-29T10:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=254881"},"modified":"2021-09-29T15:31:27","modified_gmt":"2021-09-29T10:01:27","slug":"kar-hc-directs-state-government-to-provide-text-books-in-braille-for-all-special-children-visual-disabilities-positively-within-a-period-of-15-days-from-the-date-of-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2021\/09\/29\/kar-hc-directs-state-government-to-provide-text-books-in-braille-for-all-special-children-visual-disabilities-positively-within-a-period-of-15-days-from-the-date-of-order\/","title":{"rendered":"Kar HC directs State Government to provide text books in Braille for all special children (visual disabilities) positively within a period of 15 days from the date of order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Karnataka High Court: <\/strong>A Division Bench of Satish Chandra Sharma, CJ. and Sachin Shankar Magadum J. directed the State Government to provide textbooks in Braille for all specially abled children having visual disabilities within a period of 15 days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The instant petition in the nature of PIL i.e. Public Interest Litigation was filed on behalf of the children who are specially abled children as in the State of Karnataka, text books are not available in Braille and they have also not uploaded the books on the website in PDF form so that a print out can be taken in Braille.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An interim order was passed last year wherein Additional Government Advocate submitted that the text books in Brailee for Class-I to X of the kannada medium will be available from the next academic year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Court thus directed <em>\u201cAs next academic year has already been commenced, the State Government is directed to provide text books in Brailee for all special children (visual disabilities) positively within a period of 15 days from today, if the same has not been done\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The matter is next posted for 07-10-2021.[National Federation of Blind v.
