GITAM School of Law in association with GITAM Moot & Advocacy Committee (GMAC) and sponsored by Eastern Book Company and SCC Online is conducting the Dr MVVS Murthi National Moot Court Competition on Law from the 27th<\/sup> – 29th<\/sup> of August 2021. GITAM Moot & Advocacy Committee (GMAC) was set up in 2019 with the objective of providing a platform for the students to develop their interpersonal & advocacy skills. Participation in moot court competitions enhances the researching and oratory skills of the student at the same time preparing the student to experience of reality of a court room.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Explaining the rationale for selecting a problem on Intellectual Property Law, Prof. (Dr.) R.Anita Rao Dean & Director of GSL said the time is ripe to have this moot keeping in view the recent advances made by India in the area of Intellectual Property Law. Infact GITAM School of Law set up the Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (CIIPR) in the year 2019 with an aim to evolve into a flagship institution of Intellectual Property Rights studies. The main goal of the centre is to become a source of information and expertise on IP related subjects to all the stakeholders including inventors, research institutions, universities, various innovative industries as well as intellectual property practitioners, policymakers and regulators. Prof. (Dr.) R.Anita Rao reiterated that the time was right for School of Law, GITAM Deemed to be University to have the National Moot on Arbitration & IP Law.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Moot Court Competition is named in the Honour of eminent intellectual, industrialist and philanthropist, former member of the Parliament, Dr.MVVS Murthi Garu, founder of Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management popularly known as GITAM.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Teams from leading Law Schools like CNLU Patna, NUSRL-Ranchi, Himachal Pradesh National Law University Shimla, Symbiosis Law School Pune, Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, School of Law SASTRA, Jamia Milia Islamia Delhi, Christ University, National Law University and Judicial Academy Assam among others have registered for the Moot.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Eminent panel of judges comprising of academicians, authors, policy makers, bar and bench having expertise in the area of Intellectual Property Law would be judging the various rounds. The finals would be held on 29th<\/sup>August 2021 and would be judged by Hon\u2019ble Mr. Justice Akula Venkata Sesha Sai, Judge High Court of Andhra Pradesh, and Hon\u2019ble Mr, Justice, Tanaji V.
