{"id":252955,"date":"2021-08-19T19:15:48","date_gmt":"2021-08-19T13:45:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=252955"},"modified":"2021-08-19T18:02:27","modified_gmt":"2021-08-19T12:32:27","slug":"live-in-relationship-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2021\/08\/19\/live-in-relationship-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Raj HC | \u201cLive-in relationship cannot be at the cost of social fabric of this country\u201d; Police protection rejected to a live-in couple"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Rajasthan High Court: <\/strong>Satish Kumar Sharma J. dismissed the petition and rejected police protection to a couple.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The instant petition was filed under Section 482 Criminal Procedure Code i.e. CrPC for protection of life and personal liberty of the petitioners.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Counsel for the petitioners sought police protection on account of threat on life and liberty of the petitioners as petitioner 1 is a married lady but she has been compelled to leave her matrimonial house. It was also submitted that she is living with petitioner 2. The private respondents and others are not happy with their relation and they are threatening the petitioners.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Court relied on judgment by a Division Bench of Allahabad High Court in <em>Smt. Aneeta v. State of U.P.<\/em> (Writ C.No.14443\/2021) and observed that live-in relationship cannot be at the cost of social fabric of this country, and directing the police to grant protection may indirectly give our assent to such illicit relations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Court thus held <em>\u201cthe prayer for granting police protection is rejected; however, in case any offence is committed with the petitioners they are at liberty to lodge FIR in concerned police station or may take available legal recourse.\u201d<\/em>[Maya Devi v.
