The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has amended the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, notifying the Central Motor Vehicles (Sixteenth Amendment) Rules, 2021 on August 2, 2021. The Amendment exempts Battery Operated Vehicles from the payment of fees for the issue or renewal of registration certificate and assignment of new registration mark.<\/p>\n

In Rule 89 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, following proviso has been inserted by the amendment:<\/p>\n

\u201cProvided further that, for the Battery Operated Vehicles as defined in clause (u) of rule 2, the items given at Serial number 4 of the below mentioned Table shall be exempted from the payment of fees for the purpose of issue or renewal of registration certificate and assignment of new registration mark.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
