It further amends the Chhattisgarh Electricity Duty Act, 1949 in the following manner:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>In Section 5 of the Chhattisgarh Electricity Duty Act, 1949, sub-section (3) has been inserted:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201c(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Act, Chief Electrical Inspector, in the exercise of its power and performance of its function under this Act shall issue direction to any person, officer or authority to disconnect from electric line, any such electricity generating station, against which payments of electricity duty and amounts of interest imposed thereon is due and such person, officer or authority shall be bound to comply with such directions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Explanation :-<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><em>(1) For the purpose of this Section, \u2018Act\u2019 means Chhattisgarh Electricity Duty Act, 1949 (No. X of 1949).<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><em>(2) \u201cChief Electricity Inspector\u201d shall have the same meaning as defined under sub-section (21) of Section (2) of the Electricity Act, 2003 (No. 36 of 2003).<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><em>(3) \u201cGenerating station\u201d, shall have the same meaning as defined under subsection (30) of Section 2 of the Electricity Act, 2003 (No. 36 of 2003).<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><em>(4) \u201cElectric line\u201d shall have the same meaning as defined under sub-section (20) of Section 2 of the Electricity Act, 2003 (No. 36 of 2003).\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<hr \/>\n<p>*Tanvi Singh, Editorial Assistant has put this story together.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Government of Chhattisgarh has passed the Chhattisgarh Electricity Duty (Sanshodhan) Act, 2021 on June 2, 2021.
